River Otter ventures from his bushy nest next to Point Hudson Cafe where I love to have the breakfast hash while working on my writing weekly. I have seen him several times returning from the sea to his nest. This is the first time I’ve seen him in the morning grooming himself before he enters the bay dock area for a swim.
I held space for him to witness otter taking his time to enter the water. His message for me was nonverbal actions of taking his time, simply be, enjoy, grooming himself, playing and slowly entering the water for a swim.

On my way back to my car in the parking lot of Point Hudson Bay, my eyes scan the horizon for oft seen eagles, one straight ahead, perched on a curved log along the seashore and one on the outlook perch, a large one. defying the twenty-five mile an hour wind!
The wind became more blustery, gusts of wind ruffled through this beautiful bald eagle holding his powerful talons firm on the metal rung of the outlook post. Gulls swooping down close to his head, being aggressive with their bodies to force him to leave. He stood firm and didn’t move, no matter how much wind flashed through his feathers.
This bold bald eagle felt one with the wind, a merging I felt drawn to yet not able to let go deeper into the moments of rushing, nearly gale winds. I moved closer to get better photo of him and that’s when he took flight.
Because of the intense wind on the Hudson Bay Point, I began to walk toward the sea and saw a second bald eagle holding her perch on a log curving out of the ocean shallow shore. Again, I heard and saw crows, gulls and another sea bird diving and flying close to the eagle. She didn’t budge nor waiver. She held her perch steady and strong.
Standing firm in your magnificent natural strength as the sea gulls caw and dive at you. Your energy of presence feels more vast. A field of an expanded way of being that encompasses your peers, other birds and you simply rest in the nature and nature’s principles.
The empowering beauty of Point Hudson Bay stayed with me for the rest of the day and into the night. I cherish my times in nature more and more and intend to go again and be willing, more able to merge, to become one with all of nature all around and feel myself an integral part of creation.
Holding perch steady and strong 🙏🏼❤️
